Avi has Down Syndrome ("DS" for short) and has inspired me to write these essays about children with DS for other parents. I have put them here for general reading. Check out what's new!   For students writing reports, I have put together this page on Down syndrome to help you. The Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore is recruiting children with Down syndrome to participate in a study to identify genetic and environmental factors related to congenital heart disease in Down syndrome. They need children born with Down syndrome and atrioventricular septal defect (AVSD), or AV canal, and children born with Down syndrome and without any structural heart defect for comparisons. You do not need to be near the Baltimore area. For more information, see their announcement here.
